Is My Company Eligible for SR&ED?
Try our free SR&ED eligibility self-assessment tool, which will give you a good idea of whether or not your project is eligible.
Are you good at completing SR&ED tax claims?
Yes.
Do you work with claimants?
Not usually. We typically work with SR&ED consultants, i.e. we do not normally work directly with the end-client on SR&ED claims, except where being paid by the SR&ED consultant to do so.
Are your consultants specialized in Information Technology?
Yes. All of our consultants have extensive experience in the industry working with large clients. SR&ED is only one activity, out of many, in which the consultants become involved. The IT consultants do not leave the IT industry to do SR&ED, but stay current with the most up-to-date technologies and techniques.
Do you do any other kinds of SRED work?
No. Just the evaluation and writing the technical report.
Do you provide accounting services?
No. We can prepare the information in a way that facilitates the accountant's work, and we know exactly what to tell the accountants to do, but we are not accountants.
Do you negotiate price with the client?
No. This is left for the SR&ED consultant who has the relationship with the client.
Do you even phone the end-client?
Yes, with permission of the SR&ED consultant, to do the evaluation. Recordings will be uploaded to an FTP account for the consultants' records.
Can the SR&ED consultants participate in the evaluation?
Yes. This is encouraged, as it provides a continuity of service for the clients.
Do the SR&ED consultants have to use TCEG technical writing service?
No, but it is highly recommended. TCEG technical writing service is one of the best in the industry.
Will TCEG IT Consultants make their recommendation to the end-clients or to the SR&ED consultant?
The recommendation will be made to the SR&ED consultant, which is TCEG's client. The SR&ED consultant may choose to accept or ignore the recommendation.
Is TCEG's pricing competitive?
Yes, it is very competitive.
Does TCEG offer contingency work?
No. That risk and reward belongs with the SR&ED consultant. However, TCEG can advise regarding the technological aspects of the claim, helping the SR&ED consultants make the decision of whether to go forward with a contingency for a project.
What other business interests does TCEG have?
TCEG also seeks project work and system administration work from time to time. This is because TCEG's consultants are skilled participants in the IT industry, always seeking information technology work other than SRED.
We outsource the entire task of claim preparation. Do you have the capability to take a claim from start to finish, including managing a subcontracted accounting firm, and will you work for companies that sign the end-clients and then outsource the entire claim?
Yes, in this limited circumstance, we can prepare the entire claim. However, we do not assume the client relationship, which must remain with the contracting firm.
Are most interviews conducted on-site or by phone?
Most interviews are provided by phone, however on-site interviews are available in the GTA (Toronto) and the GVRD (Vancouver).
I'm afraid of spending money - what if I don't like the recommendation or the report?
If there's any problem, work with us and we'll try to make it right. But if it doesn't work at the end of the day, all of our invoices say that you can get out of paying and/or get your money back if you already paid (we don't want to punish prompt-payers), as long as you declare in writing that you want to do this, and you do so within 30 days of receiving the invoice. This is not meant to be a mechanism to enable contingency work.
